Low draft number joins the navy instead. The navy sent me to their nuclear power academy, then on to submarine school. I was a member of the commissioning crew on the USS George Washington Carver, a fleet ballistic submarine (3 months under water at a time). During my navy years, I earned my electrical engineering degree and was promoted to lieutenant in 1971, then resigned my commission in 1974 to pursue my civilian career in nuclear power generation. I was the quality manager at the Somerset generation station and many other power stations through out the US during the 70s and 80s construction period. In 1986, I moved to Atlanta and was promoted to Regional Manager of Quality Services for Ebasco Services Inc.

In 1992, I went into private business, providing quality assurance program development services to many domestic and foreign clients, for which I have traveled heavily through out the world. I am a 4 million miler frequent flyer and an honorary Flying Colonel with Delta airlines (more than Pope John Paul).

I have 3 children –one son and two daughters, all of whom have college degrees. My son is an agent with the DIA, my oldest daughter is a CPA here in Atlanta, and my youngest daughter is a director for a health service company in Washington, DC. I have a total of 8 grandchildren (4 boys and 4 girls) and enjoy seeing them often.

I am married to a wonderful woman from NYC. We had known each other for over 16 years, working together on many overseas projects and only hooked up in 1998 after I lost my wife of 22 years in 1996.

Together we enjoy attending many NASCAR races that are run here in the deep south and spending extended weekend vacations in Cancun and in the islands. A lot of free airline tickets!!!!

For those who knew my dad, sadly he passed away in September 2004 very peacefully at home. I certainly miss him very much.

I look forward to playing in the golf tournament and challenging my old friend Jack Maines, with whom I have frequent contact.

My biggest disappointment thus far in life is when I received an invite from AARP to join on my 50th birthday. You got to be kidding, we are not that old yet!!!

I look forward to see my classmates in July –without a doubt, the best class Roy Hart had in the 60s!!!!

My adopted camel “OMAR” in the UAE. Cute, wouldn’t you say?

2011 Update:   I had cardiac catheterization of the old ticker in December, 2010 and feel great now.
