2015 Update:  Hi! Let me reintroduce myself! I'm Bonnie Roberts Ludwig, one of several girls from the class of '66 who graduated with you-all. For my current address click here.

I have really enjoyed getting to know many of you better through the email exchanges of the past several years. Haven't been able to make the planning meetings or fall get-togethers but I sure hope to learn more about everyone at the reunion and/or through Chip's website.

My favorite things to do are music, church activities, gardening, and the Iowa Presidential Caucuses (there's one coming up in January 2016....love being the first in the country to meet)! Least favorite: housecleaning. I just am not organized enough to do a good job. Period.

So, something about me: After Roy-Hart, I went to SUNYAB, studied and graduated with a BS in Medical Technology in 1969. SUNYAB is where I met my husband Jerry (in freshman chemistry), and we married in August 1968, just before our senior year. We had a scenic, hectic honeymoon trip driving around New England, but after that, what with each working part-time, this kind of messed up our grades during senior year. Oh well, we survived, and all that is a whole other story.

This would be a good place to claim that I am the world's worst procrastinator, or at least that's how it seems to me. Just one example, I am composing this essay on June 28, 2015. Chip and June, you wanted this in February 2015, right?

So back to the story. Jerry and I lived in Williamsville after graduation, and worked at Roswell Park M.I. for seven years. Also, during part of this period we took courses for our MS in Medical Technology. In June 1976 we moved to Waterloo, Iowa so I could begin a teaching job at the Hawkeye Institute of Technology. Please talk to either or both of us if you want to hear a horrific but funny story of procrastination prior to that move.

I can say we almost missed the 1976-77 blizzards in WNY, but we had decided early on to fly back for Christmas week to see our parents. (Remember the $100 per person special air fares around that time?) GOOD GRIEF...BIG mistake! And meanwhile, in Waterloo, Iowa, there was very little snow, but sub-zero temperatures for most of January. Just to show us we had moved to a different kind of climate, Waterloo, IA had 90+degree weather in May the next spring.

So, in 1978, when Jerry started working as a research assistant at the University of Iowa, we looked for and found a place halfway between our two jobs so we could commute home (100 mi roundtrip) and meet. Ask us if you want to hear the rest of that story. Four years later I began working at the University of Iowa, and we moved again to be closer to the university. We've lived in Johnson County ever since.

OK, another procrastination story. Our daughter Laura was born two weeks before my 37th birthday. Hmmm. Just in time.

Jerry is still working for the University of Iowa, and plans to retire next summer, and I began a part-time retirement job at Walmart back in September. We are both cancer survivors, and thankful for the great insurance available at the University of Iowa, and for the excellent healthcare in this area.

After Jerry retires, who knows? We know that God knows, and that has to be enough for us.

God bless...Bonnie
