2015 Update: FIFTY(!) years post 1965 finds me still happily married to Jim Nichols since 1969. We lived in Gasport until 1977 when we set off for Ohio and Indiana - movin' West! We settled on the shores of a small ski/fishing lake (Winona) in northern Indiana (City of Warsaw). We have two grown sons. Tyler practices physical therapy in middle Tennessee. He's married to Christy and they are the proud parents of our grandsons Matthew (11) and David (7). Son Braden is a carpenter in Indianapolis. Jim and I both worked in the printing business. Jim retired from being a catalog bindery supervisor in 2010. I manage academic prepress work at Eisenbrauns, Inc. I've been with this company since 1981. It's a small academic publisher specializing in Ancient Near East and Old Testament biblical studies. Look us up! I plan to work 2 more years (you know how old I'll be then)! Jim and I enjoy boating and relaxing by the lake, visiting with our kids, and traveling to New Orleans. We've been there every year in April since 2000 - even the year after Katrina. I guess we fell in love with the music, food, history, and ambience. If you ever get there, be sure and visit the WWII Museum and see the movie Tom Hanks produced for it. It's worth the trip.
We survived a major medical year in 2007 - Jim still has some after-effects. As "they" say, aging ain't for sissies. I'm doing well with my 2 hip implants (1997; 2007) - yay for modern orthopedics! Yoga is out but I do Zumba! We sure earned those discounts, didn't we? Honestly, I don't know how in the world we have been out of Roy-Hart for 50 years. It doesn't seem possible that before too long we'll be singing Paul Simon's tune "Old Friends (how very strange to be 70)."
I am so happy that our class has managed to keep in touch and have annual get-togethers for those who can make it. It's quite a record I think. I still love to sing and my church choir fulfills that need for me. We have a lot of fun too. Fun is more of a treasure these days. I hope we all have a great time at our 50th Gala Reunion weekend! And more good times beyond that... Seize each day and cherish the moments. Be swift to love and make haste to be kind.
