I attended E.C.C. in the Civil Technology program and that led me to a job with a local engineering firm. Unfortunately the Vietnam War was going strong and I ended up in the Navy Seabees for four years with two tours in Vietnam. The last thirteen months were in Morocco (great duty) and we had our first son over there. In 1969, I married my high school sweetheart, Debbie, from that "other" school in Akron. We have three kids and two grandsons, Hayden and Ian.
I did ten more years with the engineering firm after the service and then took a position with the Town of Royalton in 1981 as the Code Enforcement Officer and Assessor (everybody loves me). It has been interesting working with all kinds of people, even some old classmates living in town! We built a house out in the country in 1987 on Johnson Rd. and are now empty nesters except for our dog and cat. We love to travel and enjoy cruises. I finally took up golf a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. I don't know if I will be good enough to play in July! God willing, we can retire in a few years and do the things retired people do (whatever that is). Looking forward to the reunion!
2015 Update: Retirement - finally for my wife and me, and it is great! My high school sweetheart Debbie is still putting up with me after 45 years. Our "kids" (39,41, and 43 years old) have given us two more grandchildren, for a total of four now. Our oldest bachelor son has two dogs and a cat (easier to take care of for sure!).
Last year we downsized and moved into a new home in the Wolcottsville area. The grandkids and I enjoy fishing in the pond that we back up to on our lot. I also have a yacht (remote controlled) I can play with in the pond. To keep us busy we also operate a cottage rental business on Lake Ontario in the Lyndonville area. People from all over the country, and even out of the country, have stayed to enjoy the rural setting on the lake and also make the trip to Niagara Falls. We have been fortunate to enjoy the last few winters in Jupiter, Florida. Our daughter and family are within biking distance from us, so we get to enjoy our two grandkids down there. We also enjoy the baseball spring training, and of course the tiki bars and beach parks.
We feel blessed to have the family and friends we have, and the ability to enjoy our retirement years. God bless everyone - stay healthy.
